Doyle & Harris, a professional corporation, offers advice, counsel, and litigation experience, focusing on real estate and business issues. Christopher H. Doyle and David E. Harris are veteran litigators with decades of courtroom experience, offering good counsel and sound, practical advice. Each worked for more than 20 years in established law firms before joining forces to create Doyle & Harris.

Christopher H. Doyle
Founder and Principal

Christopher is a longtime litigator with more than 25 years of experience. He has written and argued countless motions, taken and defended more than 100 depositions, and tried cases before judge and jury. Christopher offers advice, risk assessment, strategy, and litigation services. He focuses on business and real estate issues, including compliance, dispute resolution, and litigation. 

Christopher has a wide range of knowledge, varied interests, sound judgment, good interpersonal skills, tenacity, flexibility, and creativity. Detail-oriented and practical, he also counsels on non-litigation matters and offers creative approaches to dispute resolution, solving problems practically. He is open-minded, welcomes new experiences and challenges, and has strong interests in literature, fine art, art law and cultural heritage, photography, skiing, and diving.

Before becoming an attorney, he worked in the entertainment industry in New York and Los Angeles, primarily as a writer. He loves a good story and believes in the power of the written word.

A member of Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM), Christopher advises clients on Art Law issues, including risk assessment and mitigation concerning acquiring or selling fine art of problematic provenance, lack of transactional transparency, evaluating potential disputes, and related issues.

 

Born in California, Christopher grew up in Chevy Chase, MD, in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, where he attended Sidwell Friends School. He earned his BA and MA in English Literature from Stanford University and his JD from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1997.

David E. Harris
Founder and Principal

David has been solving complex litigation disputes throughout California for more than 25 years. Consistently recognized for excellence and an AV rated attorney, he has been been designated among the top attorneys in his field. Having steered clients through trials, arbitrations, mediations, and appeals, he has the experience to successfully litigate matters to conclusion when necessary, and the wisdom to resolve them when it serves a client's needs. 

 

His practice spans a diverse array of real estate and business issues; he has represented public agencies, lenders, developers, title and escrow companies, brokers and agents, landlords, tenants, buyers and sellers of real property, hoteliers, and countless individuals. His experience includes a wide range: contract disputes, secured transactions, easements, construction and nondisclosure issue, as well as easements and rights of way, from backyard boundary disputes to multi-million dollar complex litigation.

He earned his JD from University of California at Davis and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1992.
